Similar in many ways to the Kamini, Chine Kamini has a distinct and very likeable taste and flavour. It is a good competitor for Kanakchur and Kamini and extremely good for preparing chire (pressed rice) and payesh. Although grown in the Sundarbans area, this is not a salinity-tolerant variety. The crop is sown during the monsoons and harvested in winter.
